Penn State (+7) Nittany Lions at Michigan Wolverines
The No. 10 Nittany Lions and No. 5 Wolverines are ready to meet in what will be a seismic matchup in the Big 10 East. Penn State is led by veteran quarterback Sean Clifford who has been solid throughout the season. The Nittany Lions won on the road at Auburn and have been playing defense.
The Wolverines have played a soft schedule so far but look to once again be a team built behind its strong running game and capable passing attack.
Blake Corum has been able to run the ball well throughout the season, and Michigan will need him to get going against Penn State if the Wolverines are going to win. Despite not playing the strong schedule, Michigan has had a number of close calls this season.
Expect Penn State to keep this one close and possibly pull an upset.
Miami Hurricanes (-7) at Virginia Tech
The Hurricanes have lost three straight games, including a heartbreaker to UNC last week. Miami will want to pounce on a Hokies team that was crushed in humiliating fashion by Pitt last week. Virginia Tech couldn’t stop the Panthers’ rushing attack, allowing over 300 yards rushing and six rushing touchdowns on the ground.
Miami quarterback Tyler Van Dyke played well against the Tar Heels last week. He passed for 496 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception. While the Hurricanes have had a disappointing year under first-year coach Manny Diaz, they will bounce back with a win.
Arkansas Razorbacks at BYU (+102)
BYU lost a disappointing game to Notre Dame last week. The Cougars played tough defense and only lost by eight points to the Fighting Irish. Arkansas has had issues with quarterback KJ Jefferson being injured this season.
Due to injuries to Jefferson, the Razorbacks have lost three straight, including destructions at the hand of Mississippi State and Alabama. BYU is a tough team to beat at home.
The Cougars have already claimed a Power 5 victim at home when they beat Baylor earlier this season. Arkansas will be the second team to fall in Provo, Utah.
Alabama Crimson Tide at Tennessee Volunteers (+7)
The Crimson Tide struggled with defending Heisman winner Bryce Young at quarterback last week. Young is primed to return this week, but it is unclear exactly how healthy Young will be. Tennessee, meanwhile, is healthy, including the maestro of their high-powered offense, quarterback Hendon Hooker.
The Volunteers are desperate to end a string of 15 straight losses to Alabama, a number of those coming by double figures. Tennessee will find a way to keep this game close if not win the game outright.
USC Trojans at Utah Utes (-3.5)
The Trojans have been revitalized under first-year coach Lincoln Reilly. USC has brought in a number of high-profile transfers that have made the Trojans instantly competitive.
However, while USC is undefeated, the Trojans have had a number of close calls this season. USC also hasn’t played as tough of a schedule as Utah.
The Utes took a tough road loss to Florida to start the season. Utah has been tested more than USC so far.
The Utes lost a tough game to UCLA last week. Utah quarterback Cameron Rising has led a strong offense that is capable of scoring with any team in the country.
This is a game where the Utes’ offense will be too much for USC. The Trojans have struggled to close out the game so far this season, and that reticence will finally catch up to USC on the road.
North Carolina Tar Heels (-7) vs. Duke Blue Devils
While the more intriguing matchups between these teams are played during basketball season, the Blue Devils’ hot start added some spice to the football meeting as well. However, Duke started to show it may not be as good as it started the season during a loss to Georgia Tech.
The Tar Heels, who have an excellent freshman quarterback in Drake Maye, struggle on the defensive side of the ball. UNC was able to do just enough on offense to survive Miami last week. The Tar Heels won’t be quite as worried about what the Blue Devils can do on offense.
UNC will push the pace on Duke and be able to pick up a big win over one of its biggest rivals.
