MLB Games You Have to Bet on Wednesday
The 2022 Major League Baseball season is here to save everyone from the hump day worries and longing for the weekend.
The Boston Red Sox won their sixth straight games Tuesday night, beating the Chicago White Sox 16-3, while the New York Yankees were busy becoming the first team to reach 30 wins.
Here are the games that you have to bet on Wednesday.
Baltimore Orioles +1.5 vs. New York Yankees
The Orioles are still a fairly young team with lots to work on and improve in, but they are also the third-best team in the league on the runline, as seen in last night’s narrow loss to the Yankees.
Even in game one, they won game one by two runs as they have done a tremendous job of playing the pinstripers close; they have also won four of their last six outings and have as good of a chance of winning as they do losing, despite their inferior record. Travis Wells (1-3, 4.41 ERA) will get the start for Baltimore in the rubber match.
New York has dominated most of its opponents this season, leading to a 30-13 record that is better than the chasing Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets, among other top clubs.
They have asserted their control over the league mostly through their explosive hitting, led by Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo, and Giancarlo Stanton, all of whom have taken their turns dominating opponents before falling back on a very solid bullpen. JP Sears will make the third appearance and first start of his career after dishing two scoreless innings in relief earlier this season.
Philadelphia Phillies ML vs. Atlanta Braves
The Phillies came into the season with expectations of being a great offensive unit with holes in other areas of the game, and the prognostications have mostly held up thus far.
Phili won game one before dropping game two en route to a 20-23 season record, and they have both the high ceiling— almost entirely because of their high-powered offense— to compete with the big boys and the low floor to suffer against even the worst of opponents. Ranger Suarez (4-2, 4.12 ERA) will get the start after letting in three earned runs in each of his last two starts.
The Braves have fallen way off the mark for a usual World Series defending champion, amassing a 20-23 record, the same as the Phillies’, and being unable to establish a pattern of results, regardless of if that be winning or losing.
They still execute well in certain areas of the game but do not have a reliable show-stopped, whether that but a truly shutdown pitcher of unstoppable offensive force; Ronald Acuna was expected to be that man and has looked solid in his return from injury, but he is not yet back at the peak of his powers. Charlie Morton (3-3, 4.95 ERA) will get the start in the series-deciding game.
Boston Red Sox ML vs. Chicago White Sox
The Boston Red Sox started the season off on a horrible trajectory and even fell behind the Orioles in an American League East they successfully navigated into the playoffs last season, but they have caught lift since.
Boston holds the league’s longest ongoing winning streak at six games, including a 16-3 thrashing against this same White Sox team that reflected how much power their offense has when it is clicking. Rich Hill (1-1, 3.90 ERA) will represent what has been a very impressive pitching staff after allowing four earned runs in just two innings in his last start.
The White Sox have been subject to a lot of criticism for only managing a 21-21 record after being expected to dominate the American League Central and even challenge for the World Series.
On a more positive note, they won two of three games against the Yankees prior to being demolished by the Red Sox, which they are prone to letting happen since they do not have an offense usually capable of responding in dire moments. Lucas Giolito (2-1, 2.84 ERA) will head the team’s defense when he trots onto the mound for the midweek clash.
Texas Rangers vs. Los Angeles Angels ML
The Angels are 27-17 and have one of the most imposing offenses in the league. They were swept in a three-game series against the Rangers recently but responded by winning three straight games of their own, including Tuesday’s matchup with the same Rangers squad. Reid Detmers (2-1, 4.15 ERA) will be charged with securing a four straight victory by getting the starting nod.
The Rangers have a nice squad with upset potential but take way too many nights off to be picked against a team that has incurred trust from bettors.
Texas’ path to victory is in high-scoring games, but then again, that also plays into LA’s hands. Glenn Otto (1-2, 5.55 ERA) will have the unenviable task of slowing down a powerful Angels offense.
