Best College Basketball Bets This Weekend
We have almost reached the month of March, and that is a month that is known for college basketball. Even if we aren’t there yet, this is still a sport that should have all of your betting attention this weekend.
Both Saturday and Sunday are loaded with games, and most of the Top 25 teams are in action all weekend long. You can certainly look at games that don’t have any Top 25 teams, but there are so many great betting opportunities. Here are four of the best college basketball games to bet over the weekend. You can also check out all our NCAA Basketball Odds Here.
Purdue Boilermakers at Michigan State Spartans
The Purdue Boilermakers look like the best team in the Big Ten Conference, but they have a huge task in front of them on Saturday. Purdue travels to Michigan State to face a Spartans team that is desperately trying to win a game to turn things around.
Purdue is averaging over 82 points per game this season, and they are absolutely loaded with weapons. Jaden Ivey leads the way for the Boilermakers as he is pouring in over 17 points per game this season. Michigan State has trouble scoring at times, and that has been a problem for Tom Izzo’s squad. The Spartans have now lost three straight games and scored 60 points or less in two of those matchups.
This game should be close and don’t expect Purdue to find easy offense in this game. Michigan State is going to battle all night long, but it just won’t be enough in the end.
Take the Boilermakers over the Spartans on Saturday.
Tennessee Volunteers vs. Auburn Tigers
The SEC has been incredibly entertaining all season long, and two of the top teams in the conference are set to square off on Saturday. Tennessee hosts Auburn, and this is a matchup of two teams that can really score on offense.
Auburn is averaging 80 points per game this season, and they are nearly impossible to stop when they are making shots. Jabari Smith leads the way with 16.3 points per game, but he is just one of the many weapons on this team. Tennessee should be able to find some interior scoring in this game, but the Volunteers are going to try to win this game with defense. This team is holding opponents to just 63 points per game, and they will try to slow things down.
Don’t expect much separation between these two teams at all, and home-court advantage is definitely going to play a role in this matchup. Look for the Volunteers to come up with some stops late as they pick up a huge SEC win.
Baylor Bears vs. Kansas Jayhawks
The Big 12 Conference is led by a pair of national title contenders, and those teams will square off on Saturday. The Baylor Bears will host the Kansas Jayhawks, and this should be an absolute battle. Kansas absolutely destroyed Baylor in the first matchup of the season, but that game was at Phog Allen Fieldhouse. Since the Bears are set to host this matchup, you can expect things to be much different this time around.
The Jayhawks have won four straight games, including putting up 102 points on rival Kansas State. Kansas is scoring over 80 points per game, and that offense has the ability to go off in this game as well. Baylor wants to slow this game down a bit as they are holding opponents to just 63 points per game. The Bears do have some talented offensive players, but it’s not always as easy for them to find offense.
Payback will be in order on Saturday as Baylor is going to handle business at home.
Illinois Fighting Illini at Michigan Wolverines
There are a couple of games to keep your eye on for Sunday, but the best betting opportunity comes from the Big Ten Conference. Illinois is at Michigan, and this should be a game that is intense for all 40 minutes.
In case you haven’t been following the news, Michigan will be without head coach Juwan Howard for the remainder of the regular season due to suspension. This has been a disappointing season for the Wolverines, and playing without their head coach won’t make things any easier.
The Wolverines need to win games if they want to play their way into the NCAA Tournament field, but this team has some serious flaws. Michigan is going to struggle to defend Illinois, and they don’t have an offense to take over. Illinois is going to ride Kofi Cockburn for as long as he can take them, and he is one of the best players in the country. Cockburn is top-10 in both scoring and rebounding this season, and Illinois has shooters around him.
This game could be close, but Illinois is going to pick up a win on the road.
