Charlotte Hornets (37-35) vs. New York Knicks (30-42)
The New York Knicks play its third game in four days when they travel to North Carolina to take on the red-hot Charlotte Hornets. The hosts have strung five straight wins together and worked their way into the playoff picture. New York's dropped their last two contests, keeping the Knicks on the outside looking of the playoff picture.
Charlotte is 39-31-2 against the spread this season with a 19-16-1 mark at home. The Knicks are 33-38 ATS and 19-17 ATS on the road. In the last five matchups in Charlotte, the Hornets are 5-0 straight up against the Knicks. The balanced offensive attack of Miles Bridges, Terry Rozier, and LaMelo Ball has the Hornets rolling offensively. Adding Montrezl Harrell and Isaiah Thomas during the season has bolstered a deep Charlotte bench.
New York was without the services of leading scorer Julius Randle in Tuesday night's loss. If Randle can't go again Wednesday, that will greatly reduce the Knicks' chances to cover the spread.
Wednesday's midweek tilt features two teams heading in opposite directions. Charlotte is now squarely in the postseason race while the Knicks continue to drop in the standings. Take the Hornets -6.5 here and be confident with your selection.
Miami Heat (47-25) vs. Golden State Warriors (47-25)
Two of the top teams in the NBA clash in a cross-conference matchup featuring the Miami Heat and the Golden State Warriors. Miami holds a two-game advantage atop the Eastern Conference while the Warriors are comfortably in third-place in the West.
The Heat are 41-31-1 ATS and 18-17 in South Beach. Golden State owns a 35-32-4 record ATS and a 15-16-2 record away from home. The Warriors are 1-6 ATS in their previous seven contests against Miami.
Jimmy Butler is questionable for the contest, along with Tyler Herro. Missing the top two scorers for the Heat wouldn't be the best, but Bam Adebayo and Kyle Lowry are there to pick up the slack. Golden State's lost three in a row as they continue to play without leading scorer Steph Curry. Draymond Green voiced his frustration following the team's loss to Orlando Tuesday night that they are playing soft and losing games in the fourth quarter.
Wednesday's contest is the first meeting between these two franchises this season. Injuries are mounting up for both teams, but this Golden State lineup playing their second game in as many days against the best team in the East without the services of Curry is a risky play. Take the Heat -6.
Memphis Grizzlies (49-23) vs. Brooklyn Nets (38-34)
Another cross-conference contest is on tap when the Memphis Grizzlies host the Brooklyn Nets. Both teams are safely in the playoffs, with the Grizzlies sitting in second place in the West and the Nets in eighth in the East. Memphis took the first meeting between the two franchises, 118-104, earlier this year.
Memphis is 46-26 ATS and 21-13 ATS at home. Brooklyn has a 29-40-3 record ATS with a 21-14-2 record on the road. The Grizzlies are 5-0 ATS in their last five matchups against the Nets.
The Grizzlies won't have the services of their leading scorer, Ja Morant, for the meeting against the Nets. Morant was ruled out Tuesday with a knee injury. Desmond Bane and Dillon Brooks will have to shoulder the load offensively without Morant. Brooklyn's won six of its last seven with All-Star Kevin Durant leading the charge. With the Nets on the road, they'll get Kyrie Irving back in the lineup for an added boost. That scoring duo will create problems for a Morant-less Memphis squad.
The Nets are a better team on the road with Irving in the lineup, and without the play of Morant, the Grizzlies might struggle to put points on the board. Ride with Brooklyn -2.5.
Minnesota Timberwolves (42-31) vs. Phoenix Suns (58-14)
Our final matchup of Wednesday's slate gives us a Western Conference tilt with the Minnesota Timberwolves hosting the divisional winner Phoenix Suns. Phoenix clinched the divisional title with Golden State's loss on Tuesday, while the Timberwolves find themselves in seventh place. The Suns have already handed Minnesota a pair of losses this year.
The T'Wolves are 41-31-1 ATS with a 21-14-1 showing on their home floor. Phoenix sports a 39-33 record ATS and 21-13 ATS away from the desert. Over their last seven games against Minnesota, the Suns are 5-2 ATS.
Minnesota has won three of its last four headlined by the dynamic scoring duo of Karl Anthony-Towns and Anthony Edwards. Anthony-Towns is listed as questionable for Wednesday's tilt.
Phoenix has won five in a row and now can begin to give some players rest after locking up the top spot in the West. Chris Paul, the team's third-leading scorer, has been ruled out for the contest with a thumb injury.
Minnesota is an underdog at home but have been successful ATS inside the Target Center. The Suns are the better team, but with little to play for the remainder of the regular season, their effort may not be there. We like the T'Wolves +1.5 at home.
