Best NFL Football Games to Bet in Week 6
Trying to figure out the NFL is a weekly challenge that can drive you bonkers. Seeing the Las Vegas Raiders have two wide receivers run into each other during a key sequence in the game was a bizarre site. Had Las Vegas’ receivers simply avoided their teammate, they could have made a play to help extend or win the game.
Here’s a look at some games that have betting value for Week 6.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-8) at Pittsburgh Steelers
Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has taken delight in tormenting the Steelers at Acrisure Stadium. Brady, who is 9-3 against the Steelers all-time, has looked like he isn’t quite the same player he used to be, but is still effective at 45. What will be the challenge for Tampa Bay is making sure the running game is up to snuff to keep defenses away from Brady.
Pittsburgh rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett threw for over 300 yards last week, but he still hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass in his young career. Pittsburgh’s receivers haven’t caught one touchdown pass at all this season. The Steelers will need to reverse that trend if they are going to win, but that may not start this week.
Tampa Bay’s defense will make Pickett’s life miserable, and the Buccaneers will win and cover the spread.
Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts (-1.5)
It’s hard to know what to make of this game. The Colts feel like they should be a better team with a veteran quarterback and a strong running game. However, Indianapolis was forced to play without Jonathan Taylor last week but was able to eke out an ugly overtime win over Denver.
The Jaguars, meanwhile, took a bizarre home loss to the Houston Texans. Jacksonville gave up a late rushing touchdown to lose a 13-6 decision. Jacksonville’s loss to Houston was a good reminder that first-year Jaguars coach Doug Pederson still has a lot of work left to do before the Jaguars are contenders.
This will likely be another ugly game, but it is one Indianapolis should be able to grab a big victory in.
San Francisco 49ers (-5.5) at Atlanta Falcons
The 49ers had their annual victory over the Los Angeles Rams last week and are now ready to take down Atlanta on the road. What made San Francisco’s victory so impressive over the Rams was how they harassed quarterback Matthew Stafford. Atlanta has made the most out of having Marcus Mariota at quarterback throughout the season.
Mariota’s mobility has helped him as the Falcons attempt to better develop their offensive line. Atlanta’s defense has struggled against the passing game this season.
While San Francisco still has Jimmy Garoppalo at quarterback, the 49ers have made the most of having the veteran quarterback by calling plays; he is a comfortable win.
Buffalo Bills (-2.5) at Kansas City Chiefs
The Bills are legitimate Super Bowl contenders, much like the Chiefs. What separates the two teams is a narrow margin that will likely have to be settled with another meeting in the playoffs. Kansas City has had Buffalo’s numbers in the games that mattered, knocking the Bills out of the playoffs over the past two seasons.
However, the Chiefs have appeared vulnerable at times, even at home. The Las Vegas Raiders were able to jump out to a 17-0 lead on the Chiefs last week before Kansas City came roaring back to win late. One of the things that cost Buffalo in the AFC Championship game last season was a slow start on offense.
The Bills and Allen should be looking to take care of business in this game by putting up points early and often.
Los Angeles Chargers (-5.5) vs. Denver Broncos
The Broncos are a mess on offense. Other teams around the league should do their best to figure out how to continue stopping Denver if they want to grab an easy win.
The Broncos and veteran quarterback Russell Wilson are still working on how to best mesh their talents together. So far this season, Denver ranks 31st in the league in points scoring, averaging 15.0 points per game.
The Broncos have been leaning on their defense, which is No. 1 in the league against the pass in terms of yardage and No. 3 in the league in terms of total yards allowed. The Chargers have the opposite problem. Los Angeles’ offense has been strong during their 3-2 start; the problem has been a defense that has been mostly mediocre to bad.
Denver will have a hard time keeping up with Justin Herbert and the Chargers, who will win by at least a touchdown.
