MLB Picks and Parlays: 3 Solid Bets for Monday
MLB Picks and Parlays
The 2021 Major League Baseball is underway, and the plan is for each team to play a full 162-game schedule this season. Of course, the league has already had to deal with some COVID-19 concerns, and that will likely continue throughout the season. Betting on baseball is not extremely popular, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t great betting options each day. Being a solid baseball bettor just requires a little bit of extra research, and we have done the hard part for you.
Monday features a full slate of games, but we have picked out the three games to focus on from around the league. Here are three solid MLB bets for Monday that you should consider making.
Latest MLB Odds
Pittsburgh Pirates at Cincinnati Reds (-140)
The Cincinnati Reds host the Pittsburgh Pirates for a National League Central Division rivalry game. Cincinnati comes into this game with a 2-1 record, while the Pirates are just 1-2 on the season.
JT Brubaker makes the start for the Pirates, while Jose De Leon will be on the mound for the Reds. Both pitchers will be making their first starts of the season, and it’s hard to really handicap how each of them will perform. The Reds are only slight favorites in this game, and that line just seems off at first glance. Cincinnati just won two out of three from the St. Louis Cardinals and was impressive in doing so.
Nick Castellanos had himself an interesting weekend for the Reds, but that weekend included a pair of long home runs. This Reds team has a powerful lineup, and they can put runs on the board in a hurry. Pittsburgh was impressive in the season opener, but it struggled on Saturday and Sunday against the Chicago Cubs. Rookie sensation Ke’Bryan Hayes is dealing with a wrist injury, and that is a huge blow for the Pirates' offense.
Cincinnati is the much better team on paper, and the potential in that offense is simply too good to ignore. Pittsburgh isn’t very good, and betting against its opponent each night is a good play.
New York Mets (-213) at Philadelphia Phillies
The New York Mets have yet to play a game this season as their series with the Washington Nationals was canceled. The Mets might show a bit of rust on Monday night against the Philadelphia Phillies, but this team will also be ready to go.
It will be Jacob deGrom on the mound for the Mets on Monday, and that immediately gives them a big advantage over any team that they face. deGrom is arguably the best pitcher in baseball, and he is capable of completely shutting down an opponent.
Philadelphia comes into Monday night with a ton of momentum after sweeping the mighty Atlanta Braves. The Phillies are looking for a bounce-back season in 2021, and they couldn’t have asked for a better start. The Phillies have a terrific trio of starting pitchers, but things start to get a little rough after that group. Matt Moore makes the start on Monday night, and the veteran is hoping to slow down a Mets lineup with a ton of potential.
Philadelphia has obviously proven that it is for real this season, but betting against deGrom just simply isn’t a smart move. deGrom will pitch well on Monday, and the Mets will find a way to get enough offense to win.
Los Angeles Dodgers (-153) at Oakland Athletics
The state of California is loaded with good baseball teams this season, and two of them will meet up for a series starting on Monday night. The 0-4 Oakland Athletics will host the 3-1 Los Angeles Dodgers, but the records don’t matter much with just one series being played.
Dustin May makes the start for the Dodgers on Monday night, and he will be opposed by Frankie Montas. This pitching matchup seems to favor the Dodgers, even though May has not yet really proven himself at the Major League level. Los Angeles put up 26 runs in a four-game series against the Colorado Rockies, and this offense is loaded with talent. Playing in Oakland will provide a bigger challenge than Coors Field, but the Dodgers can score runs anywhere. Oakland managed just nine runs in its four losses to the Houston Astros, but the lack of offense is not the biggest cause for concern. The Athletics gave up at least eight runs in all four of those games, and the team pitching ERA is 8.25.
Oakland is going to turn things around at some point this season, as this team is a threat to win the AL West. Trying to get the pitching staff in order against the Dodgers is never good, and this could be another long series for the home team.
Betting the Los Angeles Dodgers -153 is the right move on Monday night.
