This is the first time the big game will be held in Vegas. There are plenty of storylines there, but we are ready to dive into the actual game and give you a Super Bowl LVIII Betting Preview:
Favorite San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers got to the big game with a dominating regular season, NFC West title, and then two wins over NFC North teams. The 49ers beat the Packers 24-21 and then the Lions 34-31. San Francisco was known for their offense all season, as they averaged 29 points per game. The 49ers ran the football for 133 yards per game, and passed for 251.5.
Christian McCaffrey is the big name in the offense, as he rushed for nearly 1,500 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was also used as one of the top receivers, with 67 receptions, 564 yards and 7 touchdowns. The ball was spread out among receivers for the 49ers, with Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel also with 7 touchdown receptions, and George Kittle with 6.
Brock Purdy, who is known as Mr. Irrelevant had his first full season as the starting quarterback. The former Iowa State signal caller threw for over 4,200 yards, and 31 touchdowns on the season. Purdy ended with 11 interceptions, with four of them coming on Christmas Day to the Ravens.
The defense for the 49ers was solid late in the season, allowing 21.1 points per game over the final six games. San Francisco never lost a game all season where they scored 21 points or more in the game.
The 49ers have won five Super Bowl titles in their franchise history. The last time they won the big game was in 1994 over San Diego. Kyle Shanahan and the Packers got to the Super Bowl in 2019, but lost to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in that game.
Underdog Kansas City Chiefs
It was a slow start for the Kansas City Chiefs, as they lost their opener this season to the Detroit Lions. Kansas City never fully hit their stride until recently in the postseason. The Chiefs won the AFC West, despite six regular season losses. In the postseason though, the Chiefs beat Miami by 19, Buffalo by 3 and the Ravens by a touchdown.
Patrick Mahomes had another outstanding season under center for the Chiefs. The signal caller finished with 4,183 yards passing and 27 touchdowns. Mahomes threw 14 interceptions on the season. His top target is Travis Kelce. Popular for his dating of Taylor Swift, he has been the man of the postseason with three touchdown receptions so far.
Rashee Rice is next for Kansas City in the passing game. Rice led the team with 7 touchdowns. On the ground Isiah Pacheco has the key. Pacheco finished with 935 yards and 7 touchdowns on the ground this season. Kansas City as a team rushed for 127.3 yards per game, which ranked fifth in the league.
The biggest story for the Chiefs was their emergence of the defense. Kansas City allowed just 13.7 points per game, which was the second best in all of the league. The Chiefs allowed teams just 332 yards per game during the regular season.
Kansas City is in search of their fourth Super Bowl title in team history. The first was in 1969, and then the two recent. The first game in 2019 over these 49ers, and then last year Kansas City downed the Philadelphia Eagles.
Thriller in Las Vegas
There you go. Our final pick for Super Bowl LVIII is the Kansas City Chiefs to win the game, and claim the title for the second straight season. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce just get the job done, and the defense gets after Brock Purdy early and often. We do feel like the 49ers may score first, and then the Chiefs take over. One of the bets we like is Christian McCaffrey for the first touchdown of the game.
But in the end after that, Kansas City gets ahead, and then uses their running game to keep the clock ticking. Mahomes is smart and has been to big games like this, he is able to move the chains.
The Kansas City defense is strong here, causing Purdy to turn it over a couple times en route to a 10 point win. Our final score prediction for this game is the Kansas City Chiefs 27-17 over the San Francisco 49ers. Enjoy the game and best of luck with all your Super Bowl LVIII betting!
