2023 AFC Divisional Title Betting Odds
As the preseason rolls along in the National Football League, adjustments have been made slightly to the betting odds to win each division.
Let's take a look at the most up-to-date divisional odds for the AFC teams in the NFL:
AFC East
- Buffalo Bills +120
- New York Jets +270
- Miami Dolphins +300
- New England Patriots +800
The division is the Bills to lose, once again. Buffalo has had a pretty good stranglehold on this division since Josh Allen came to the Buffalo Bills and started at quarterback. Buffalo sees a tough 2023 schedule, so there's far less room for error than in some previous seasons. The Jets added Aaron Rodgers and feel they are the team to contend, not only in their division but the AFC and for the Super Bowl.
Tua and the Miami Dolphins are third on this list. The Dolphins made the postseason a season ago and have two of the most elite receivers in the game. Miami faces a tough test in Week 1 against the Chargers.
The Patriots' season will depend a lot on the ability of Mac Jones to move the offense and get into the end zone. This should be a great division to follow all season long.
AFC North
- Cincinnati Bengals +150
- Baltimore Ravens +235
- Cleveland Browns +380
- Pittsburgh Steelers +450
The divisional odds tightened up a bit when Joe Burrow left training camp early with his injury. The Bengals are a team that is just one season removed from playing in the Super Bowl. JaMarr Chase is one of the top receivers in the game, and Burrow has found the ability to get him the ball when needed. For Baltimore, they have Lamar Jackson back, and hoping he is motivated and ready for a big season.
Many feel he has MVP-like potential when healthy and engaged in his best football. For Cleveland, they are going to continue to pound the ball on the ground and play good defense.
But, Cleveland now has some confidence in their quarterback in DeShaun Watson, to make plays when needed. Finally, it's a big season for Mike Tomlin and Kenny Pickett in Pittsburgh. It will be interesting to see if they can relish the role of underdog and make a push to the postseason.
AFC South
- Jacksonville Jaguars -155
- Tennessee Titans +350
- Indianapolis Colts +600
- Houston Texans +800
The Jaguars being the second-best divisional favorite to start the season is much more about the division than it is about the Jaguars. A season ago, though, the Jaguars won a playoff game over the Chargers.
After winning a bad division, they came from behind and got the job done. The next week, they were eliminated by Kansas City. The Titans added DeAndre Hopkins to the mix, but not sure it will be enough. The Titans will have to decide quickly if they want to go with youngster Malik Willis at quarterback or veteran Ryan Tannehill. Remember, Tennessee still has the best rusher in the league; Derrick Henry. The Indianapolis Colts are a complete mess.
Jonathan Taylor is in the middle of looking for a trade. The Colts are starting a rookie quarterback and do not have much of a roster to compete in the league.
Houston may be improved, but it will be a long way from competing. CJ Stroud should be fun to follow his progress in his first season.
AFC West
- Kansas City Chiefs -165
- Los Angeles Chargers +340
- Denver Broncos +550
- Las Vegas Raiders +1200
The Kansas City Chiefs are the defending Super Bowl Champions and are running it back. Andy Reid is looking for yet another Super Bowl title. He will bring back Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, the toughest duo to defend in the entire league.
The Chiefs continue to put the rest of the pieces together and remain the big favorite to win the division. Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers are not just going to sit back and let Kansas City take the crowd. The Chargers are irked after losing in the postseason a season ago.
It could be a do-or-die situation for head coach Brandon Staley in Los Angeles. The Broncos have new blood after the disastrous 2022 season. Sean Payton is in, and he has an experienced quarterback in Russell Wilson, who will be looking to prove he still has some left in the tank.
Finally, the Vegas Raiders will be moving on to Jimmy G as their starting quarterback. That's not even the biggest news, though - Josh Jacobs not reporting is bad news for the Raiders, as they will look to replace his NFL rushing title numbers of a season ago.
That's a look at the AFC. We will be back next week to look at the divisional odds for the NFC. We expect this to be a great season of National Football League play. Very competitive, with a lot of good teams trying to get to the ultimate game, the big game, the Super Bowl.
