2023 National Football League Rushing Yards Winner
The position has been discussed quite often already this pre-season, and it will be a story for the entire season. Running backs in the National Football League feel like they are getting left out a little when it comes to these long-term, high-dollar contracts that you see. You see the quarterbacks getting the money, but the running backs seem to be lacking behind a little.
That brings us to the topic - which running back has the best chance to win the Rushing title in 2023? Which running back will lead the NFL in yards in 2023?
Nick Chubb +450
The 27-year-old from Georgia has been nothing short of spectacular since coming into the league in 2018. The 35th overall pick finished last season with more than 300 carries for 1,525 yards and 12 touchdowns. The Browns' offense is going to rerun the football. DeShaun Watson is not in as the full-time signal caller, which Cleveland hopes will open up even more room for the running attack.
The Browns have to face some tough defenses in Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Cincinnati twice, but to be successful, they will have to run the rock.
Jonathan Taylor +650
There have been all sorts of controversies this off-season with Jonathan Taylor. He wants a contract extension. He didn't get the contract extension. He wants a trade. The team won't trade him. Is he hurt? He says no. The situation here is not great to bet him. This seems like a situation where when the odds start to sink on Taylor, then maybe you take a gamble and bet on him.
The 24-year-old out of Wisconsin has even been rumored to be starting the season on the injured list. That's where he spent a decent chunk of last season, which saw him fall 139 yards shy of 1,000 with just four rushing touchdowns.
Derrick Henry +650
In the end, can you ever go wrong with Derrick Henry? The guy is an absolute beast and, once again, should be given the ball early and often in the Tennessee offense.
There has been talk about lessening his load, but we will believe it when we see it. The 29-year-old from Alabama has been in the league since he was drafted 45th overall back in 2016. Last season, he finished second with 1,538 yards and also had 13 touchdowns.
The Titans passing game is a question mark, so when push comes to shove, if they want to move the ball - it's going to have to go into King Henry's hands.
Bijan Robinson +1000
The rookie out of Texas is going to come right into the league and impress from the start. Robinson got drafted in a great spot. The Falcons are going to give him the keys, especially knowing what he can do with the football. This is a sneaky pick, but as a rookie, it's always interesting to see how much trust they actually DO give. The 21-year-old was the 8th overall pick in the 2023 draft.
Rhamondre Stevenson +1500
Many do not realize that Stevenson actually had over 1,000 yards rushing last season. The Patriots have long been known for a team that uses a bunch of different running backs, but Stevenson was the guy early and often. He carried the ball 210 times.
His issue was he did not get the volume touchdowns that many other top running backs got. He has some question marks to start the season, though, as he has spent most of the training camp on the rehab field. This is a player to monitor as the season starts getting closer.
Saquon Barkley +1500
This could easily go one of two ways. We all know the talent of Saquon Barkley is nearly unbeatable. Barkley is a stud. We also know Barkley can miss games and be disappointing at times as well.
Barkley was fourth last season in rushing yards and played in 16 games. The running back for the Giants wanted more money in the off-season, and he got it, but he still is not happy with the state of affairs at his position.
Direction one is a really irritated and determined Barkley that runs over the competition and wins this. Direction two is a Barkley that misses as much as he possibly can and milks the New York Giants through the entire 2023 season. His odds at +1500 are intriguing, to say the least.
Josh Jacobs +1500
Do you think many outside of diehard National Football League fans would know that Josh Jacobs was the winner of this last season?
After coming away with 1,653 yards on the ground, the Raiders put the franchise tag on him. Jacobs does not want to play under the franchise tag, so he is seeking a trade.
It will be interesting to see where Jacobs lands, but keep in mind he may miss chunks of the 2023 season. Any games missed will put him at a major disadvantage for the rushing yards title.
